Meet Gene — Your Instructor

Hi, I’m Gene, the owner and sole instructor of Road Gnome Driving School.  I started this business with one goal: to help new drivers gain confidence, skill, and safety behind the wheel without all the stress and confusion. Every student I work with gets personal, focused attention — no large classes, no subcontracted instructors, just me and you (or your teen) working together to learn the right way.

Why "Road Gnome"?
Driving doesn’t have to be scary or boring. The name “Road Gnome” reminds us to stay grounded, focused, and even have a little fun along the way. My style is patient and straightforward, and my goal is always to make sure you feel ready, not rushed.

Certified & Local
I’m fully certified through the South Carolina DMV to provide classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, and administer official road tests. I teach out of Rock Hill, SC and proudly serve students throughout York County and the surrounding area. 

I have worked as a certified ESOL teacher in the Fort Mill and Gastonia communities for the past decade.  Now, I am turning my attention to teaching our youth how to navigate the roads.
